We were seated right away at the restaurant, but it took us time to order the food as they only had few servers, and they were busy. We had called them to take our orders. However, the food came out fast, and all the food items were good. There is also a bar and barbecue on the other side of the restaurant. It's a nice place for dining, but the service can be slower. We have been there several times and have always enjoyed the food and the ambiance.
I really like the chili oil sauce here and the dumpling filling is also very good but I would say the dumpling skin is a bit too thick for my liking. The non dumpling dishes we have ordered were pretty average for the price.
This place got remodeled completely!!! Now East Dumpling House has a DJ mixer, huge ceiling fans with fancy blades, the bar is nice and neat. Most importantly, they start to serve North east Chinese BBQ recently!!!
what was normally my favorite place has gone very down hill. Very disorganized service on a friday night , no hostess so we waited an hour until someone figured out there was a line out the door . I ordered edamame and it arrived looking old and brown in color and was still frozen in the middle like it had been microwaved . the service was inadequate , took us 30 minutes to order food and an hour to get the food . i will not be returning. For paying almost $70 this was not worth it .
This is a Chinese restaurant that it's specialty is China Northeastern-style cuisine. Located in the downtown center of Rockville City of Maryland, it is right across street from the Courthouse,. It's interior design is quite fashionable with a flashy bar bench. We had a party of 13. Unfortunately, they do not take reservation. As the result, one of us had to be there earlier to make sure we'll have a table. It turned out there were plenty space. For some reason, they no longer have the large and round table anymore. They had to merge three tables for us, which tampen our enthusiasm to have an intimate gathering. However, the food were overall good. We ordered one dish for each person mostly with double orders so we can share. The beer tower sitting in the middle of table was a highlight and cheering. After we ordered two, the lady owner gave us the third one for free. Nevertheless, our total bill including tip ended up with $48 per person, which is not cheap, perhaps we should blame the inflation.
there’s no effort in making the food taste good or edible for to go orders. The pork is clumped together, soggy, skin is chewy, barely any meat. Mind you, I picked up the order right when it was done and opened the food five minutes within pick up… The picture speaks for itself. Also ordered coffee soymilk but got regular unflavored soymilk. The egg drop soup is superrrr salty. ): only thing good is the white rice. Its all inedible, I have to order from another place. $40 down the drain
I’ve dined in a couple times with friends and had a decent experience and the food was really good. But I came in one afternoon, it was around 2pm by myself and ordered the house dumplings with hot and sour soup(soup tastes incredibly salty but I didn’t complain at all) and when the bill came, I was charged 18% gratuity. I’m so confused, our party of 5 wasn’t charged a grat coming in at 12am but a single party at 2pm does? I always tip good and I don’t mind paying tip but I’m confused. I just paid it and left.
UPDATE: contacted the restaurant, showed them the pic because the food was concerning and they said “that’s how we cook it” maam, it’s raw and goopy. I won’t say anything if the food doesn’t taste good, but if it’s inedible then I will raise a concern. I just left it as that though. They refunded me the wrong order of soymilk which was considerate of them.
This place is honestly the best last resort restaurant in the area for Chinese food. All the food is what you expect with dishes either being a hit (most of their skewers) or a miss (lots of their noodle dishes). The service is terrible and they have service charges after 9. When we went some other customer was bothering us and asking us weird questions and instead of kicking them out our server just told us to ignore them. This place could be so much better if they had better service and cut the menu in half
While the food was good, the bad service completely negates the experience and makes it not worth going for the food. We had a super bad, rude waiter who forgot multiple items and kept ignoring us when we sat there for 30 minutes trying to order. We had to get up from the table and go ask him to come to our table. He then never refilled water, never checked on us, and was very rude the whole dinner. When the bill came he stood over my shoulder pressuring me to tip him well. I pushed the bill away thinking he would leave, and the he brought it back and tapped it and said, you pay here. THE GALL. I told him I see it and I would do it on my own time. Unbelievable service. I tipped 15% when I usually do 20%, and in retrospect, I probably should have tipped 0% given his bad job and clear customer intimidation attempt.
